Nan and I were married in 2009 and began a family shortly thereafter, in Louisa, VA. I had employment from the electric company as a licensed reactor operator at the nearby North Anna Nuclear Power Station. We had three children fairly quickly and then some time later added twin girls. Life could not be more complicated, or so it seemed!
Moving back to VA right after wedding
The family just after our move to Kansas.
Our adventure began in the summer of 2018 when Nan and I attended her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and Family Reunion here in the Kansas City area. After spending two weeks in the area, we knew that we wanted to live and raise our kids here. We decided that we wanted to buy a local business and immerse ourselves in the community. I resigned from my job, we sold our house, and we moved 1,000 miles to Overland Park, KS. Within the month we had closed on the purchase of ‘A Tree Grows in Brooklyn’ a local business that had beautified the metro for the past 40 years. With the help of the previous owners, Bill and Richard, we have had great success in our first years.
